Agency & Franchise

We constantly assist global corporations in drafting agency/distribution/franchise agreements and provide them with advice on Lebanese agency laws and regulations. We regularly act for international clients in claims brought by local merchants, distributors and franchisees for compensation arising from the termination or non-renewal of agency/distribution/franchise agreements.

Recent work includes: representing a multinational Swedish manufacturing company in claims brought by its Lebanese and Syrian agents relating to the termination of their respective distribution agreements; advising an independent, family-owned Scottish company which distills Scotch whisky on various aspects of Lebanese agency laws and termination of relationship with its local agent; advising an American global coffee company and coffeehouse chain on franchise agreement with a major Middle Eastern group of companies; advising a British multinational clothing, footwear and home products retailer on franchise agreement with a leading regional franchise operator; advising a leading American manufacturer of construction and mining engines and equipments on termination of distribution agreement with local distributor; advising a leading Japanese multinational imaging and electronics company on dispute with local distributor.
