Insurance & Reinsurance

We have a very strong insurance practice supported by our longstanding relationship with a number of local and international insurers and reinsurers. Since our formation, we acted in a broad range of direct insurance matters, including complex and substantial property claims, environmental claims and liability claims, war risk related incidents, fraudulent insurance claims and multiple coverage conflicts.

Recent work includes: acting as legal representatives for Lloyd’s and Lloyd’s underwriters before the Lebanese regulator with authority to issue re-insurance policies for and on behalf of Lloyd’s and Lloyd’s underwriters; advising a global insurance company and one of the largest public companies worldwide on Life and Non-Life Lebanese insurance and re-insurance regulations and assisting it in the liquidation of its local subsidiary and settlement of pending claims; acting for a multinational general insurance company headquartered in London in the investigation and settlement of a major property insurance claim and advising it on the recourse against the third party responsible for the loss; assisting a global London re-insurer in investigating and settling claims arising under BBB policies issued by local insurers; advising an international industrial gases and engineering company on liability insurance under Lebanese law.
